TREATMENT OPTIONS

PSYCHOTHERAPY

With strong scientific bases, psychotherapy is arguably one of the most pragmatic measures to combat PTSD.

THERAPY DOGS

Dogs are more than just lively companions. They can be lifesavers too. A specially trained service dog can dramatically reduce the effects of PTSD, providing comfort, company and a sense of security.

SUPPORT GROUPS

While support groups are not a main form of treatment, they can provide the veteran with a better sense of connection with people.

Pharmacotherapy

Some patients do not respond adequately to nondrug treatment alone, may prefer medications, or may benefit from a combination of medication and psychotherapy. In these cases, pharmacotherapy is also recommended as a first-line approach for PTSD
